Los Angeles weather is in full summer-mode and Noa and I have been taking advantage daily in our new pink pool. During our Sunday pool day I was in the mood for a margarita but short on a few ingredients: I had too few limes (but plenty of lemons). I also didn’t have orange liqueur, but we do have an orange tree. Going to the store was not happening so I whipped up this version, threw in some mint and berries, and bam – so good! Also, perfectly timed with Cinco de Mayo if you want to have a little celebration at home tomorrow.
makes one margarita
2 ounces tequila blanco
1 ounce lime juice
1 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 teaspoon agave nectar
2-3 strawberries, stems removed
4-8 fresh mint leaves, torn
Add strawberries and mint to a cocktail shaker. Smash berries and mint together.
Add tequila, lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice, and agave nectar to the cocktail shaker. Shake all ingredients vigorously together.
Pour margarita over ice. Optional to dip your glass with salt before serving.
